My Experts: Fashion Social Media

You may be wondering, why does Gretchen need a team of fashion specific social media experts. “Aren’t you already the expert?” Why yes, however, I would reply, everyone needs a team of insightful, talented experts they look up to, especially in social media. This industry changes every day, sometimes every hour. There is no way one person can ever know everything going on. Like I tell my students, the brilliance and knowledge is in the collective. All of our insights and experience add up to produce that brilliance.  And so while I’d like to take credit, oftentimes, the vision lies in the collective.

Rachel Arthur – WGSN Market and Digital Editor. You need a subscription to WGSN, Trend Forecasting Company in order to read Rachel’s gifted insights into fashion and the latest media marketing campaigns. This is the gal who gets things done; she receives all of the amazing press releases before the brands launch an uber cool piece of technology and she covers it for us. So thank you Rachel and thank you WGSN for having her on board.  Don’t fret too much if your company does not have full WGSN access. You can follow Rachel on Twitter where she live-tweets from digital events all around the globe.

And if that’s not enough for you, she maintains her original blog when she started in the industry back in London.
Fashion & Mash is a top read.

You’d like to think that there’s a third Rachel…and maybe there is (let me know if you know of one!).

Lauren Indvik formerly at Mashable was my #3 go-to for social media insights. Always reporting the best campaigns in a case study kind of way, she has provided resources for the best practice study and marketing examples I share with students and colleagues. And even though she is no longer at Mashable, she’s now Co-Editor in Chief at Fashionista, her reporting is a timeless count of campaigns and best practices for anyone into this part of the field.
